Job Description:

The position of Technical SalesManager – Sales Support is a pivotal role in the technical bid management process. You will be a key member of the Sales Support team focused on collaborating with the SGS Product Center Operations, SGS Regional Execution Centers and SGS Sales Support Leader. The Technical Sales Manager will manage a global team of technical bid engineers that has the skills to prepare technical packages for CTO and complex ETO bids, whilst taking ownership of the technical support activities in the end-to-end bid process. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

You are expected to take the full responsibility for the technical solution during the Sales phase. As well, as manage the technical support activities in the end-to-end bid process.

Proactively drive the technical value engineering of customer projects and lead technical scope preparation and negotiations as an active member of the Sales team.

Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries, collaborating with the sales support manager to prepare technical packages, clarifications and deviations to CTO and ETO Bids, as well as technical annexes and contract schedules.

Manage virtual technical bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with engineering, technology, field service, supply chain and factory operations.

Understand and resolve complex technical and business issues.

Prepare and review the technical aspects of the bid, ensuring all products / services are included in the final offering to the customer.

Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.

Contributing to the written proposal - in terms of both content and presentation (such as providing guidance around technical scope and deviations).

Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.

Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers.

Profile:

Bachelor degree, preferably in a technical or commercial field

Background in equipment manufacturing and/or process industry company

Minimum 5 years of experience working in a bid proposals environment

Minimum 5 years of  leading technical negotiations, ideally of heavy machinery, biogas upgrading equipment, CO2 recovery or similar, is a significant benefit

Good communicator with excellent verbal and written skills in English and Dutch. A third language (German/French) is a plus

Leadership skills, ability to influence others being flexible and adaptable

Good organization skills, work ethics, self-driven, communicative team player

Excellent commercial, creative and solution-oriented skills

Proactive, energetic and conceptual with a hands-on mindset

Experience with a PLM system
