The Role:
Xylem seeks to hire a Senior Field Service Technician. The Senior Field Technician position is a qualified technician with the ability to plan, lead, and direct execution on simple projects, communicate results, as well as mentor/train more junior field technicians. This position will be able to interpret and utilize data to solve problems and complete tasks with minimal direction.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Ability to train more junior technicians on the proper handling and use of equipment as per standard operating procedures
Provides basic/intermediate maintenance on tools/equipment across locations and project sites
Prepares documentation and tools/equipment in advance of mobilization to complex projects
Accountable for quality data collection
Completes site assessments, safety plans; or delegates with review
Solves complex technical issues with support from technical experts
Acts as a mentor to field employees to resolve problems and provide guidance
Provides feedback to the safety and technical teams on concerns and makes recommendations for improvement
Identifies and prioritizes tasks for self and projects; delegates widely to other team members and supervises completion with effective feedback given
Identify opportunities to influence and promote inter-team and project collaboration
Empowered to raise observations/concerns and recognition to immediate team and leadership as required
Focused on continuous improvement by consistently looking for ways to improve and promote quality, efficacy, and safety
Complete daily timesheets and expense reports as required
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED with up to 5 years previous field/shop/construction experience
Post Secondary education a plus; certification in engineering discipline preferred; with 1-2 years of previous work experience in a field/shop/construction environment
Previous experience within a water services/utility organization a must
Proven ability to make decisions that are based on analytics/facts/observations and adhere to standard operating procedures/policies
Proven ability to delegate tasks to others, provide feedback and communicate technical requirements/updates
Dedicated team player committed to the safe and successful operations for everyone involved
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Demonstrates intermediate math skills
Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views
Exhibits proficient technical/mechanical aptitude proven through education/work experience
Experience working directly with customers/clients, an asset
Availability to work overtime, weekends and holidays if needed
Must have a valid driver’s license and DOT Medical Card; must have a reasonable driver’s record
Preferred Qualifications:
Be able to work in confined space strongly desired; confined space certified
Safety and CPR certification a plus
Physical Demands:
Be able to stand on feet for a prolonged amount of time
May need to bend, lift, carry, and stretch to perform duties
Continually required to use hands and fingers and reach with arms
Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs
Work Environment:
Work requires ability to work outdoors in various weather, traffic and environmental conditions.
60-75% Travel (midwest/southern states)
**The estimated salary range for this position is $27 to $32/hourly. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
