Shree Pandurang Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. (SPSSKL), located at Shreepur in Malshiras tehsil of Solapur district in Maharashtra State, was registered as a co-operative sugar factory under the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act 1960, vide registration no. SUR(PRR)/PRG(A)-7(S) 88-89. The co-operativization of SPSSKL was effected under the directions given by the Govt. of Maharashtra and SPSSKL took over BRIMA Sugar, Shreepur, a public limited company, on April 1, 1992. The deed of conveyance cum purchase was executed on May 5, 1992. SPSSKL started its operation with a capacity of 1250 TCD. In view of water availability from the Ujani dam, the crushing capacity of this sugar factory got expanded along with increased sugarcane availability. SPSSKL expanded crushing capacity three times from 1250 to 2500 TCD in 1997-98, 2500 to 3500 TCD in 2006-07 and 3500 to 4500 TCD in the year 2011-12. We have approached to govt. authority for expanding the crushing capacity up to 6000 TCD.
