Smart Water Fund
About
Smart Water Fund
The Smart Water Fund is an applied research vehicle for the Victorian water industry. The Fund was established by the Victorian water industry and the Victorian Government in 2002 as a key industry and Government response to the ongoing challenges posed by climate change and water scarcity. In its 15 years of operation the Fund has invested over $66M in more than 230 innovative projects across eight research themes.
Following a strategic review in 2013, the Smart Water Fund Board made the decision to cease investing in new projects and close operations by December 2017. The Fund's efforts during its closure phase are centred on the successful completion of remaining research projects, pursuing opportunities to imbed innovation within Victorian water businesses, and ensuring the continual sharing of knowledge for uptake and utilisation.
The Smart Water Fund Knowledge Hub (the library of the Fund's completed project outputs) is now housed on the Water Resource Access Portal to ensure the research funded by the Victorian water industry continues to benefit the industry for many years to come.
