Water Group Lead

Water Group Lead - ( 210002T6 )

Description

Many of the world’s top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community’s interaction with water a bit differently—as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. By 2025 we’re hiring 2,000 people (like you) to join our team. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Your Opportunity

Are you ready to lead? Stantec is seeking an experienced water professional to lead our multi-sector Water Business Line in the San Francisco Bay Area. As an integral part of our leadership team in the Pacific Region, you will understand our water service offerings and lead the continued growth and development of our team and practice in the Bay Area.

Are you ready to advance your career with a collaborative team that puts people first, lives its corporate values, and works on some of the most challenging water projects in the world? Join us.

We’re looking for a results-oriented water professional who is passionate about water, building strong teams, and providing exceptional client service. You will lead a team of professionals at all career levels, based out of our Walnut Creek office, in delivering successful projects, developing and recruiting top talent, and delivering strong business results. In doing so. This leadership role will provide an opportunity for you to learn and influence Stantec’s business operations and practices, engage with our regional and national water leadership, and to broaden your career growth opportunities within a progressive organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

As our Water Group Leader, you will model Stantec’s core values—we put people first, we do what is right, we are better together, and we are driven to achieve—across three key consulting functions: doing, managing, and winning impactful work.

Do: Deliver high quality water consulting services. You will oversee and guide our delivery of water-related technical consulting services in the Bay Area, which include water and wastewater treatment; storage and conveyance; wet weather and stormwater management; resiliency and sustainability; industrial water; and more. Project types will span planning, traditional design-bid-build services, alternative project delivery, construction management, and program management. You may also act as Principal-In-Charge and/or manage the successful delivery of projects in your individual area(s) of expertise and within your client network. You will work closely with our project managers and delivery teams to help us proactively manage risks, bring Stantec’s regional and global resources to projects, and promptly address any client or management concerns.

Win: Grow our water business line and win impactful work. Working with our business development and client service management professionals, you will use your knowledge of the industry to help articulate a long-term vision for Stantec’s water consultancy in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and help identify actions to achieve this vision. As a group leader, you will champion and align our team members behind this vision and action plan, helping guide the team in further developing our market share, brand, and presence across key sectors.

Using your client service skills, you will develop relationships with and engage our clients in discussions about their most critical issues and translate those discussions into opportunities to deliver solutions. You will provide input to pursuit decisions and help prepare winning proposals in your area(s) of expertise. As appropriate to your experience, you may also act as a client account manager for key clients and leverage your relationships with key industry partners that complement Stantec’s competitive position in the marketplace.

As Group Leader, you will represent Stantec in regional industry groups and events to advance our brand. As a group leader, you will also help encourage and match your team members, at all levels, with appropriate client and professional engagement opportunities.

Manage: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing water professionals. Consulting is a people-driven business, and our team members are Stantec’s greatest assets. Bring your energy, team building skills, and passion for water to lead and grow a team of top-tier water professionals who are committed to advancing water management in California. You will work with our Pacific Region Business Leader and Operations Leader to guide all aspects of our water business in the San Francisco Bay Area, including: staffing and resourcing projects; recruiting and retaining staff; training; promoting a strong health and safety culture; developing our young professionals; ensuring consistency with Stantec’s policies and practices; and implementing employee engagement initiatives, such as those related to community service, inclusion, diversity, and equity.
