Project Communication Managers
We are looking for two water-interested communication professionals for two six-month-positions, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position.
SIWI is a non-profit foundation that works globally as an advisor to governments, cities and companies on policies to improve water management and resilience. The Communication and World Water Week department is responsible for strategic and daily management of SIWI’s communication. This includes SIWI brands, but also World Water Week and a range of development projects within water governance, throughout all channels, including press, web, events and social media.
The team consists of 14 people. We are centrally located in Stockholm, at Linnégatan 87A, but currently mostly working from home.
Since SIWI is the organizer of World Water Week, the leading annual conference on global water issues which takes place at the end of August every year, you must be prepared for a high workload and limited vacation during the summer.
Description of Duties
SIWI works with a range of international projects and programmes with partners such as Sida and different UN agencies. Our project communication managers will form a pool of resources coordinated by our production manager. You work with the project teams, advising on communication strategies and communication plans, and carrying out a range of communication activities, such as defining key messages, creating graphic visuals, preparing news items, social media posts as well as analyzing and follow up communication performance data, target audience data and insights. The work can also include preparing and supporting web-based events, workshops, and trainings, with invitations, outreach and follow-up. Within the team, there are specialists in messaging, branding, film and photo and press that can be pulled in.
We do want to see your portfolio of independently carried out work, with text and design samples. The recruitment process will also include some tests of relevant competencies.
We hope you would be able to start within a month of contract signing.
Responsibilities can include but are not limited to:
- Work closely with a range of water governance projects in SIWI’s different departments
- Advice on communication strategies and communication plans for the project
- Execute and coordinate project communication plans
- Develop project key messaging for the projects
- Create graphic design for projects
- Define and develop appropriate communication channels
- Manage project web pages and web texts
- In coordination with channel manager, create social media posts for SIWI’s channels on the projects
- Proof-read texts from project members
- Develop news items
- Pitch press ideas in coordination with SIWI’s press manager
Required knowledge and skills:
- Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, prioritizing between tasks, and developing and following time plans, budgets, and guidelines.
- Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and executing at high quality.
- Superb interpersonal communication skills: A team player with an ability to coordinate effectively with co-workers and external partners.
- Excellent level of English writing skills; both social media copy and news texts. Other languages, such as Spanish, are desired but not required. The major part of the team is Swedish, so knowledge of Swedish is helpful but not needed.
- Strong creative strength in graphic design, and various kinds of visualisations.
- Excellent online skills, especially Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office suite, and WordPress, Google suite, social media channels and publishing tools.
- Skills in online trainings and technical platform skills are desired but not required.
Education and work experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in design, communications, or marketing.
- +3 years’ experience in communications.
- Experience in turning research into compelling communication for global/local overseas audiences, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and experience in working with communication on water governance projects, sustainability issues and development is desired but not requested.
