About the Role
The core role of an Engineering Team Lead is end to end management of the people and resources allocated to your team in the field. The main duties include implementing technical tasks, team recruitment and management, planning and creating team workflow via job allocation, reporting and documentation, staff training/coaching and ensuring high performance of your team members. The role requires the holder to develop successful relationships with a wide variety of internal and external customers and provide technical support to the new and existing SunCulture customers.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination
Undertaking site visit for pre-feasibility and feasibility site information collection and analysis.
Sourcing and management of the necessary tools, materials and items required for technical activities.
Proper time management and communication to ensure all technical projects assigned are achieved within set timelines and budgets
Risk Management
Be very proactive, list project risks and think through mitigating mechanism strategies.
Ensure you are safe through assessing risk factors during installation and taking necessary measures to mitigate the risk
Communicate and seek advisory on any risk factors that are encountered in the field.
Customer Service
Ensure technical project quality is according to client’s expectations including communicating progress and changes, responding to feedback from clients to ensure client satisfaction.
Carry out client training after every installation including ensuring that at least 1 other user of the system have the knowledge to install, operate, maintain and service the installed system.
Maintain contact with clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction including addressing after sales and warranty claims.
Represent the company image in the right manner without any involvement in unethical character.
Documentation
Submit all documentation required before and after installation is complete in the prescribed format.
Make project follow-ups and provide any required documentation on the process
Work Allocation and Reports
Recruit, onboard, train and manage Field Technicians
Ensure your team members are productive by allocating jobs and ensure that they are delivering within the required turnaround time and in the required quality
Follow up with the team to ensure clients are contacted prior to technical visits to agree with the client on visit date and time.
Cross Check and confirm that the teams individual survey, installation, after sales and repossession reports are completed.
Ensure all jobs pending due to client’s unavailability are followed up regularly by the engineer.
Check and verify all expense claim forms sent by the engineers, highlighting irregularities if any.Submit detailed weekly reports indicating work progress, challenges, and highlighting the risks.
Ensure all required technical and client information is entered in the system correctly
Leadership and Team Management
Work closely with the Technical Manager to align work plans and communicate any hiccups faced
Build a culture of collaboration among the team members
Identify and highlight gaps in the survey, installation and after-sale processes
Ensure all new hires joining the team are properly augmented into SunCulture’s work culture
Have daily check in with your team members to enhance good communication and give prompt feedback to your team members
Does this sound like you?
Bachelor Degree in Biosystem engineering or equivalent
At least 2 years’ experience managing team of over 10 people
Able to take full ownership and accountability of the team thus both the successes and failures of the work.
Track record of high performance and execution level
A team leader and team player committed to the team
Detail oriented, focused and comfortable with ambiguity.
Self aware with humility and strive to improve as a leader within craft.
Good customer management, relationship management and team management skills
