Summary
TRC has an exciting Senior Design Engineer (Water/Wastewater) position ideally based out of our Denver, Durango or Chicago office, working a minimum of three days a week in-office. Our ambition is to standout through delivering a truly exceptional standard in the industry.
We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer who will lead a team throughout the design and construction of projects. The Senior Designer Engineer will design and prepare plans/specifications/estimates and assist with bidding and construction management. A technical expertise in wastewater treatment, hydraulics & hydrology, as well as extensive work with industrial or municipal clients is required.
Reporting to the Office Practice, the role of Senior Designer is to manage and lead the overall design of each new wastewater project (or other civil engineering designs) that get assigned to the Design Management Services business unit of TRC.

For this role, the successful candidate will mentor our younger staff and PE/P.Eng. stamp/seal drawings on various projects throughout the US and Canada.

- Lead EITs and junior staff in all aspects of design/bid/build engineering projects
- Detailed design of wastewater treatment facilities
- Design of industrial facilities, including civil and mechanical components
- Coordination of sub-disciplines and sub-consultants
- Creation of plans, specifications and estimates for bidding and construction purposes
- Construction management and oversight
- Act as the Lead Engineer on a range of projects
- Provide technical guidance to EITs / training younger staff
- Hydraulic modeling and pump system design
- Stamping/Sealing plans and specifications for bidding and construction
- Maintain Seller/Doer business approach
Key Accountabilities
- Coordination with Sr. Project Managers, Office Practice Leaders, Business Development Team, and Clients
- Ensure timely preparation, coordination, and review of designs, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities & pursuits
- Ensure regular contact with clients are being performed and that we are proactively addressing any client concerns and seeking further opportunities. Understand upcoming workload and budgets to situate ourselves to be successful in securing that work
- Ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled
- Required to lead, develop, and foster an innovative and collaborative work environment
- Required to foster a spirit of teamwork, positivity and professionalism
- Lead and mentor a team of EITs, professional and technical staff
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- Professional Engineer certification (PE) is required
- Preferred to have multi-state PE licensure and a Canadian P.Eng as well
- 5-15 years of total experience post-graduation in addition to 5+ years experience in a supervisory role
- Significant experience delivering both large/major projects as well as smaller projects with tight schedules
- Proven success in advising, securing, and delivering on behalf of clients
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D
- Working knowledge of regulatory and code compliance
- Excellent oral and written communication
