Lecturer Water Services Governance

Job Summary
As a new staff member of this Department you will be involved in further developing the group’s approach to studying and supporting both formal and informal water and sanitation providers: what do they do and how, why do they do what they do, and how can their actions be improved to meet SDG6? You will also be expected to translate research outputs and new analytical insights into educational and training activities. This work will be done in collaboration with colleagues at IHE Delft and partner institutes around the world.

Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and implementation of research in the field of water services governance, in continuous interaction with partner organizations within and beyond academia;
Actively produce and mobilize research findings to contribute to the ongoing global policy debates about the organization, management and governance of water services provision;
Identify funding opportunities and acquire projects in the field of water services governance;
Lecture in and coordinate courses in the Water Management and Governance MSc programme;
Co-supervise MSc, PhD and Post-doc research;
Acquire and help implementing international capacity development, advisory and other projects.
Requirements
has a PhD degree in a discipline related to water services governance (such as human geography, development studies, public administration, business administration);
has proven experience in and is willing to coordinate and manage knowledge management and capacity development projects;
is able to work independently;
is motivated to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
is fluent in English, and preferably also in Spanish and/or French;
has affinity with, and preferably working experience in, low-income areas of developing countries and/or countries in transition.
Terms of employment
This position is a formation position with an initial contract of 2 years, with the potential to be extended. The position is based in Delft, The Netherlands. A competitive salary is offered depending on qualifications and experience in accordance with the conditions of employment for Dutch Universities. Candidates should be prepared to carry out short-term missions abroad.
