Business Analyst (Surface Water Strategy)

You will drive and lead the analysis of data within the Wholesale business ensuring that long term strategic plans are robustly developed enabling the company to meet the challenges of changing competition, regulation and environmental requirements. You will report to the Surface Water Strategy Development Manager in designing and implementing the Rainwater Management Strategy, incorporating elements of integrated water management including natural flood management (NFM), sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in an exciting and wide ranging role.
Job Accountabilities
- To support the Surface Water Strategy Development Manager and wider Integrated Network Strategy team.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of key strategies needed to help the Wholesale business achieve its customer promises and outcomes throughout AMP7 and beyond. These strategies are to be centred on the long term, at lowest whole life cost that meets customer needs at an acceptable level of risk
- Contribute to the assessment and response to performance and budget changes to optimise the company performance and reputation for AMP7 and the longer term
- Support the delivery of the Rainwater Management Plans, assessing where and how to meet the challenges of organisational drivers such as improving capacity and delivering UQ targets
- Lead the assessment and use of the common framework in relation to data capture, use and reporting requirements of our regulators and driving through the strategy for implementation into the business including risk management
- Provide timely data to relevant stakeholders to ensure they can process data relating to wastewater strategies, methodologies and guidance notes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to Wastewater Wholesale in relation to Wastewater ODI performance, strategies and emerging issues such as how to identify opportunities to embed sustainable drainage and natural flood management into drainage areas.
- Sponsorship of agreed investigations and R&D to support the development of strategic initiatives and regulatory drivers.
- Collation and analysis of regional data for Regulatory Reporting, Drainage and Wastewater plan preparation and the PR24 submission will be required
- Collate information relating to flood risk partnership expenditure and monitor the effectiveness of partnerships.
- Analysis and data capture of various data sets for annual Risk Based Screening as part of the development of the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan
- Engagement with operations to verify data and support improvements to data quality to improve risk identification
- Facilitate the sharing of data with 3rd parties and support the integration of 3rd party data into our long term plan development.
Knowledge and Skills
- A degree in a numerate or technical discipline
- Good knowledge of wastewater and associated practices, techniques, strategies and the operation of wastewater assets and the linked business procedures is preferred
- Excellent analytical reasoning, project management skills and communication skills.
- Computer literate and have detailed knowledge of, GIS use, data interpretation, statistics, and related techniques.
- Have an understanding of modelling methodologies
- Good organisational skills to ensure that work is prioritised and managed through to completion.
- Ability to interact with and present to external stakeholders
- An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a regulated water company
- A valid driving licence
