US-Australian Dialogue

US-Australian Dialogue

About

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney cordially invite you to the "US-Australian Dialogue: Practical Solutions for Managing the Energy-Water Nexus" on Monday, January 14th, 2013 in San Francisco.

The aim of the Energy-Water Nexus Dialogue is to explore the link between energy consumption and water use.

Australia, the driest inhabited continent on earth, and California have large populations located significant distances from natural water sources. Moving this water from the source to the people requires vast amounts of energy. The dialogue will explore ways Australia and the US can work together to understand and reduce the energy footprint associated with water consumption while meeting the ever growing need for this precious resource. Better ways of managing the nexus will also be explored during the dialogue.

Conference sessions include:

• Australia's Water/Energy reforms

• The significance of the nexus for cities of the future

• Water-Energy Trade-offs in the USA

• Practical Solutions for Managing the Energy-Water Nexus
