Position Description
VODA.ai is looking for a Chief of Staff to join a talented and rapid growing startup. Our Chief of Staff will play a critical role in enabling strategy execution, collaboration, and communication across the company. This position is the right hand to our co-founder and CEO and is a great way to get exposure to all aspects of running a fast-growing tech startup. The role is a steppingstone to a leading role within the company (e.g., Operations, Partnerships, Product, etc.)
The Chief of Staff will play a critical role in the strategic development and execution of projects and initiatives in close step with the CEO and leadership team. A curiosity to learn, and the ability to communicate across teams, and lead through influence is important as this role will carry out the vision and represent the CEO in the continued expansion of the business.
Major responsibilities:
Manage company priorities: review/create metrics/initiatives to support company priority setting
Oversee internal operations: prepare agendas, take notes, and assign action items at staff meetings, manage KPIs and annual planning processes, support with Board meeting prep, create decision-making frameworks
Spearhead special projects: lead a metrics overhaul, do customer research on an adjacent business opportunity, lead the search for an executive hire or a commercial partnership
Be an advisor and thought partner to the CEO: be able to stand-in during meetings, take key decisions, and speak on behalf of the CEO.
Additional responsibilities:
- Run certain defined business segments for limited periods with clear understanding of success and company strategy. Escalate decisions to be made by CEO, and facilitate others that do not require CEO’s attention.
- Act as the main liaison between the CEO and internal and external stakeholders
- Partner with the CEO to strategically identify and evaluate opportunity areas in both current market segment as well as evaluation of new business opportunities
- Support CEO with existing and new partnerships
- Understand existing processes, make improvements, and continue to monitor
- Occasional travel to support CEO
Qualifications & Technical Skills:
- 3+ years’ experience in top-tier consulting, or a BizOps/product role in a high-growth startup
- 3+ years’ experience in software development environment
- Proven track record of working closely with C-suite/VP-level executives and an ability to build trust with internal/external stakeholders of all levels
- Ability to dive into any area of business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions. Sharp business judgment, ability to see the “big picture” and to prioritize.
- A structured problem solver with an ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
- Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
- Ambitious and result oriented self-starter with initiative and strong drive
- Has a proactive approach to work and a “sense of urgency”
- Strong written communication skills, ability to distill and convey information in a compelling manner
- Detail-oriented organizational and process management skills to manage a wide range of incoming requests and responsibilities
- Ability to manage change and ambiguity with an action-orientation/drive strong work ethic, disciplined execution skills, willingness to do whatever it takes to deliver results
