It's hard to believe that today 844 million people do not have clean water and 2.3 billion do not have a decent toilet - around one in three of the world's population. Every two minutes, a child under five dies from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.

WaterAid is looking for a Policy Advocacy and Campaigns Manager to play a vital role in our vision to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere by 2030. We're looking for people who share a commitment to our vision.

The Policy Advocacy and Campaigns Manager is responsible for providing influencing leadership in WaterAid Uganda Country Programme on WaterAid's ambition to achieve transformational change at local, regional and national level to ensure everyone everywhere has access to water, sanitation and hygiene. This role draws on WaterAid's global advocacy priorities and national analysis to develop and deliver a high-quality and politically smart research and policy agenda, advocacy strategy and communications approach, all whilst working with others to achieve change.

You will be responsible for:

Bringing together thought leadership, political judgement, compelling arguments, and collaboration with others to influence policy and practice change by government and other key organisations,
Secruing and protecting the right of people to safe, affordable water, sanitation and hygiene services.
Developing policy positions and engage in campaign planning and represent the campaign both internally and externally, deliver operational plans in support of the campaign and the country advocacy strategy and enhance the profile of WaterAid among decision makers and the public.
Developing and disseminating a range of policy and research products that clearly outline WaterAid's policy positions with compelling evidence to support this; including background papers, discussion papers, project research reports, policy briefs, policy messages, position papers and briefing notes.
To be Successful, you will need the following:

Master's Degree in either International Development, Human Rights, Sociology, Public Policy or Political Science or any other related in the Policy and Advocacy discipline. Or equivalent experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Environmental health, Public Health, WASH Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Gender and WASH, Financing and WASH or equivalent expeirence
Extensive experience in policy, advocacy and/or campaigns including research in the field of development with any reputable national/ international/ donor agency.
Experience in the WASH area of policy analysis and advocacy, research and publication.
Excellent sense of strategy, analysis and political judgement, with a track record of achieving progress in advocacy agendas and realizing the rights of marginalised groups of people
