Risk & Investment Programme Manager

We are very excited about a new position we have for an experienced Programme Manager to join us on a 12-month contract basis. With the forthcoming Price Review, we have started an ambitious programme to transform how we manage risk and investment at Wessex Water.

This transformation will deliver an integrated and comprehensive way of working, supported by defined policies, processes, protocols, systems and tools, roles, and governance. This will help Wessex Water in managing performance, cost and risk while balancing customer and regulator expectations.

Work is underway on internal audit and risk initiatives, and we are now at the planning stage for the investment management projects. The time is now right to engage a Programme Manager to join us to coordinate and oversee delivery across the different projects and ensure the realisation of planned benefits and outcomes.

 

The role

As the Risk and Investment Programme Manager, you will develop the end-to-end programme plan, align critical path activities with the PR24 (Price Review) Programme Manager, and lead delivery activities, focusing on ensuring that interdependencies between the constituent projects are managed effectively and to timescales.

 

You will further develop and refine programme and project governance, establish effective monitoring and reporting regimes, and take an active role in project management, in particular project management for the Risk Investment Planning, and Management projects.

 

Reporting to the Director of Risk and Investment, your role will play a big part in influencing internal stakeholders, and coordinating colleagues from our R&I team, our internal IT team, 3rd party IT vendors, and the wider business.

 

 

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a high energy, outcome focused individual who has great planning and organisation expertise with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll be degree qualified or equivalent, and will have experience working within the Water Industry or an equivalent regulated environment.

You will have experience of successfully delivering complex enterprise-wide programmes of work with a budget value of £2m+. You will have strong leadership and management skills, and the ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in the programme. While we have IT Implementation Managers leading the in-house technical activities. Experience of working with 3rd party IT vendors, and both waterfall and agile approaches would be useful. As an excellent communicator and collaborator, you will have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms. You will also be an experienced Microsoft Project user.

It would be desirable but not essential if you have: experience of internal investment management and/or risk management; good knowledge of budgeting and resource planning/allocation processes; and a qualification and/or demonstrable experience in Prince2, PMI’s PMBOK, or equivalent methodology.
