About us
At Wetlands International, we are dedicated to safeguarding and restoring wetlands so that these unique habitats are treasured and nurtured for their beauty, the life they support and the resources they provide. We work to conserve and restore diverse wetland systems in all parts of the world. This includes coastal wetlands such as mudflats and mangroves as well as freshwater wetlands such as peatlands, marshes, rivers and floodplains. To make a global difference and ensure sustainable wetland management across land and seascapes, we inspire and mobilise society to act and influence levers of change.
Our work on coasts and deltas comprises a growing worldwide portfolio of work. This includes integrated coastal zone management programmes, habitat and species conservation and dedicated restoration initiatives, as well as sector and commodity-driven programmes focused on coastal engineering and aquaculture. Through these initiatives, we aim to enhance the roles that coastal wetlands play to support biodiversity, ensure food and water security and reduce climate risks.
