What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
Woodard & Curran is seeking a full-time plant manager for the Wright City, Missouri wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). The WWTF will utilize a Bardenpho Biological Nutrient Removal process with onsite dewatering. Each day presents different challenges and learning opportunities as we work towards 100% compliance, which is achieved by daily process monitoring and a comprehensive maintenance system. This facility is currently under construction and is anticipated to start receiving flows in late 2024. The plant manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the treatment plant. This includes scheduling, coordinating, and directing plant staff in the overall operation of the various treatment processes and maintenance activities throughout the facility. The plant manager is responsible for fostering a safe work environment for all plant personnel and visitors. He/she will regularly prepare reports for regulators, the client, and the firm. Additionally, the plant manager will manage the budget of the facility and manage the scope and schedule of contractual obligations and serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm. Supervision will be provided by an area manager; however, the plant manager must be able to work comfortably in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision.
Schedule:
The daily schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 4:00 pm. Availability for standby duty and the ability to be “on-call,” working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Support daily operations and maintenance of assigned equipment to include residual management, electrical and mechanical components, SCADA and remote communications networks, and strategic pump and flow management.
- Manage and/or maintain the use of the daily operations log.
- Collect samples and conduct laboratory tests where/when necessary, in support of regulatory compliance.
- Meet with the client on a regular basis to discuss and review plant operations and maintenance.
- Effectively communicate with industrial users in the community.
- Manage operating budgets to include annual operating and capital.
- Monitor operations by inspecting and reviewing data, records and reports, coordinates sampling.
- Keeps accurate and up to date records for the project. Prepares and reviews all required reports.
- Respond to all complaints in cooperation with the client relative to the operation of the wastewater treatment facility and initiate appropriate action to resolve the issues.
- Manage the repair, maintenance and construction activities of the project and coordinate activities with the client.
- Ensure all employees receive proper training in materials, equipment, tools, and safety procedures.
What will you need to succeed?
- Must possess a Missouri Grade A Wastewater Treatment license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the wastewater and/or water treatment industry.
- Proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site-specific systems.
- Participation directly and to a significant extent in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water/wastewater facilities throughout the last ten years.
- Experience managing a minimum of 3 staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record with regulators and solid understanding of regulations and reporting requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
- Familiarity with biological/chemical treatment processes with particular aptitude for laboratory analysis, record keeping, and facility maintenance.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
