Using anti-biocidal antifouling paints or coating for raw water facilities should be guided by many factors for safe human consumption such as; type of paint, source of raw water and contents, duration of the paint after application and rate of depletion, and environmental conditions (temperature, etc). Local and international regulations can help in the paint selections.

In the actual fact, any paint that depletes or expires after application and use to hold/storage raw water, appropriate treatment should be given to the raw water before human consumption and use to eliminate the paint contaminants, among others.

To avoid all these issues over time, a good grade of stainless steel storage facilities are better options, though with high initial costs which pay at the long run.
