Are there such projects as recycling water? If yes do they help to improve the virtual water footprint?

  1. Here is an article I wrote a few years ago that discusses a couple of water recycling projects in Vancouver, BC, Canada, within the context of global water reuse initiatives and policies - and notes the benefit to municipalities is much greater than simply the potable water saved.

  2. Recycling Water

    Water can be considered to be recycled through many different treatment and purification processes. This is usually implemented by municipalities, but is increasingly done by private industry. For a general overview, see:

    There are different levels of recycling. In some cases, for example, the goal may be to make the water suitable for drinking, while in other cases the water may be desired for other purposes such as irrigation or industrial work (cooling etc.).
