Dear All, are you aware of publications/articles in which the different discharge limits of treated wastewater are compared by country, perhaps also as regards the regulatory measures implemented and the relative monitoring values to achieve them, such as environmental/wastewater taxes with incentive, compensation functions or others ? Thanks for exchanging views in advance, it would be enough even for your own country.
And here the municipal wastewater discharge limits for Germany, not speaking about sensitive areas, but distinguishing even 5 different dimensions of WWTPs; compared to Italy, Germany proposes more restrictive limits on average for BOD and COD, less restrictive for Ntot:
To continue, here the 2 main tables of the European Directive 91/271 (however currently being updated), concerning urban wastewater treatment and corresponding maximal allowed discharges; first table for all treatment plants (with at least 2000 p.e.) discharging into receiving water bodies not classified as sensitive areas subject to eutrophication. Second table for all treatment plants (with at least 10000 p.e.) discharging into receiving water bodies classified as sensitive areas subject to eutrophication; happy to be corrected/integrated and for any comparisons.
Yes the data are differ country to country as depends upon environ conditions changes accordingly but .But as per WHO the data should be meet accordingly. Globally water management systems are facing enormous challenges of accelerating water insecurity, flooding, and contamination of water resources. According to the UN 80% of sewage is currently discharged without treatment. In India there are state pollution control bpoard and central control board.
