Disinfection of open wells
Published on by Nathalie Board in Technology
Due to heavy flood last season the open wells in our area got infected. The water is contaminated, can anyone suggest how to disinfect these open wells? The wells are old and 20-30 ft down the ground level. In some are the toilets are located very near to wells. Let me know if some more details of the site is required.

Hello Nathalie, Could you provide a general demographic/geographic description of the area? Also I would be useful to know how many wells are currently in the area, the distance (in feet/metres)of the toilets from the well in question. I look forward to your response. Tarik info@koomconsulting.org

WHO guidelines
Hello Nathalie,
disinfection of wells could be very tedious job if contamination is very high. Some time it is better to dig new wells. first step should be to determine the type and level of contaminations. You can simply fallow the guidelines provided by WHO
