Drawing Management Software

Published on by in Technology

I am looking at options for software that manages redlines and as-builts for facilities drawings.

It seems the process to manage can be extremely laborious (paper/manual markups, autocad updates etc).

What software, if any, do you use to manage facilities updates for both field personnel and engineers?

Indeed the process of managing data for assets is extremely laborious. It is paramount that you have a software system that manages assets, which inherently provides you the building blocks to manage data on every asset. Biased as it may seem, I would recommend GE Smallworld for asset management and than any of the commercial off the shelf apps they have for telecom, electricity, gas and water. For water and drainage, www.wateroffice.com provides COTS solution on the GE Smallworld platform. BTW, a GIS does not provide this type of functionality out of the box although geographical referencing is one of those blocks. You have to build it. Hope this helps you.

  2. BIM 360 Docs which also manages associated documents. It doesn't quite go to a good resolution for 3D models and it is better to use BIM 360 Glue for viewing them but manage in Docs
