Which factors ​affect soil ​nutrient ​availability to ​crops?  ​

Which factors,​ apart ​from rainfall, ​climate and ​length of ​cropping ​season ​affect ​fertilizer ​response? ​

I am doing a ​research about ​interlinking ​nutrition, ​soil and ​fertilizer ​dosing so any ​help is welcome.

  2. Generally, nutrient availability to crop roots is function of soil moisture, soil pH, level of nutrient's concentrations in the soil and extensiveness of root hairs network. You should google how the factors influence nutrient availability to crop roots?

    Fertilizer response depends on the initial level of available form of a target nutrient in the soil solution in that fertilizer, available soil moisture to dissolve the nutrient from the fertilizer carrier , soil fixation capacity of a particular nutrient (Soil pH is key determinant) to be available and type and quality of fertilizer itself. You should google for details of mechanisms?

     

       

  3. Fertilizers provide an effective way to replace valuable plant nutrients that are removed in crop and animal products. Fertilizers also have potential to harm other ecosystems or impact food safety. Soil and plant testing is the foundation of management practices appropriate for specific sites and farming systems. Food safety and environmental issues associated with nutrients are areas of policy focus and public debate.

     Nutrient releases from CRF may be affected by soil factors including temperature, moisture, concentration gradient (ψS), pH, microbial populations, and texture. Factors intrinsic to CRF( controlled-release fertiliser) that may affect nutrient release include nutrient composition, coating thickness, and CRF prill shape and diameter.

    These factors affect crop yields both directly (the plant) and indirectly (e.g. via soil conditions and crop management) and should be considered in long-term. The amount of rainfall from September to October shows positive influence on cashew yield in both zones. Total food grain yield over India during Kharif (summer) season is directly affected by variations in the summer monsoon precipitation (June– September). An increase (decrease) in rainfall is generally associated with an increase (decrease) in food grain yield. Agriculture feeds and clothes the world. Although the long-term effects of climate change are still largely unknown, scientists can observe short-term effects of climate change on crops and animals. In addition, scientists can prognosticate about the changes that are likely to occur in agriculture if global climate change causes changes in temperatures and rainfall.1

    One is the CNC ratio in the soil, another is the Bacteria, Fungus, and other living organism, (enlivened soil) to help break down the soil and give the plant the necessary nutrients to absorb.  The ability to supply essential plant nutrients and soil water in adequate amounts and proportions for plant growth and reproduction; and the absence of toxic substances which may inhibit plant growth. Physically good to support plants and contain just the right amount of water and air for proper root growth. The soil must supply these essentials every day in the life of the plant.

  4. I suggest that you research online and at your local library for there is a lot of information available to you. After you do your initial research then coming back with specific questions will most likely give you more satisfying answers. In addition I caution you when listening to advice for many groups and individuals are completely bias as shown by responses made throughout this site. As long as you realize this then you will be better prepared to complete your task with added depth and insight while gathering "Actual Facts" that have been verified. ...... then check them again for it is amazing the level of garbage that gets released as facts.

There is several real important factors.   One is the CNC ratio in the soil,  Another is the Bacteria, Fungus, and other living organism, (enlivened soil) to help break down the soil and give the plant the necessary nutrients to absorb.  Next is the Nitrogen , Phosphorus, and Potash which are easy to administer but it should e governed by the soil prior to preparation so that you and make sure you are putting the correct amount for the type of crop you with to grow.  Next is an addition of a metered amount of Lignosulphonate  (added to your fertilizer blend) to allow moisture to penetrate into the soil but not allow the moisture in the soil to be lost due evaporation from the hot sun.

  6. The following factors can also affect soil nutrient availability to crops: Average temperature, type of soil, presence of certain bacteria, type of plants planted, soil pH, content and ratio of chemical components of the fertilizer, topography of the farm land, etc.
