How to increase concentrat flux?
Published on by nada Belmokhtar in Academic
I'm a student on water engineering I'm designing a plant and the concentrate flux is less than the minimum how I can increase it without changing the permeat flux or recovery. thank you.

you can increase flow trough the vessels by changing from christmastree design to a feed and bleed mode.

You can recirculate some concentrate back to the inlet.
if there are multiple vessels change the number of stages and vessels per stage.

You can use a successive RO process where in the first stage you can set a higher level of flux of reject, using the reject for the second phase RO, and use the reject form second for third stage. After the direct membrane filtration of wastewater, a typical phases of recovery can be 65%, 10% and 5%. Based on the feed water quality you can increase or decrease the flux on rejects. I hope that helps.
