How to recover more water through membrane separation of three stage RO

We have three stage effluent recycle reverse osmosis plant and final brine solution TDS was 60000-65000 mg/l.
How can we recover more water through membrane filtration.

The phenomenon of osmosis is a phenomenon that tends to balance the concentration of solutes on both sides of a semi-permeable membrane. The phenomenon of osmosis is a common natural phenomenon, especially through cell membranes. The RO process is typically not practical with TDS levels above 55,000-60,000 mg/l as the pressures required are high, the recovery is low and the operational cost are high.

The Rochem Group offers RO solutions of up to 120 bar and in cases of extreme value, up to 200 bar. The 120 bar systems can typically concentrate up to TDS 100,000 mg/l, but recovery may be limited by scaling and fouling. Let me know your location and we can have the appropriate person contact you.

Dear Mr. Vohra,
Really I feel very sorry for you and the situation you are presenting. Reverse Osmosis from the first place is totally an inappropriate process to treat 65 gm/lit stream. We are presenting a much, much simpler process relying on Room Temperature Evaporation (www.naturalseawaterdesalination.com). Our complete process is far less expensive than any minor maintenance job for your reverse osmosis system.

Hi Riyaz,
I'm afraid that there is no easy answer for our question as many factors can affect permeate flow through any RO system.
- How is the current recovery % compare to design?
- What is the SDI value of feed water?
- How is the normalized permeate flow, salt passage and differential pressure compared to the one obtained for the new membranes?
- How old are the membranes?
- Membrane cleaning, how have been don and how many times?
And the list goes on. You probably will need a consultant or a treatment program supplier to help you.
