There is a company that produces large iron metal batteries that are designed to last decades and can power entire power grids for long periods of time. They are currently being deployed in smaller cities in the U.S. where power grid failures are imminent. These batteries are typically paired with solar or wind power systems to answer long term power grid failure, however they don’t need to be. I don’t recall the company name off the top of my head.
