Pressure Exchangers – Operational Experience - What is your operational experience with pressure exchangers such as DWEER and ERI – do you have a preferred energy recovery technology and why? Thanks.

Pressure Exchangers
Hi Cristine:
Both DWEER and ERI offer pressure exchangers suitable for seawater and brackish water applications. However, the main area of implementation of of pressure exchangers so far has been for recovery of energy from concetrate produced by seawater RO desalination plants.
In general, both pressure excahnger thechnologies have comparable have proven tack record. ERI pressure exhcnager systems have fewer compoenents and typically they are easier to commission and operate. Maintenance costs for the ERI systems usually are lower as well. Over the past 5 years, ERI systems have been used in over 70 % of the large SWRO plants worldwide and currently this technology dominates the desalination market.
