Steam Thermocompressor Problem
Published on by Tamer ramzy Abd-Elsadek, Employee at Oregon Environmental Engineering, LLC in Academic
Hello Engineers,
I am looking for your support in thermocompressor issue observed suddenly during operation.
The discharge and suction pressure deteriorate suddenly.
I checked the motive steam, but there are no defects in its parameters
Did you face this problem, or have you studied something about that problem?

Its may caused HCO3 Iion which is very aggressive to deteriorate your system also had exessive Oksigen dissolved.

Dear Tamer, I am expert of MED/TVC Desalination plants and therefore I am very familiar with Thermocompressors applied to Desalination plants.
First of all, the TVC should have been specified and fabricated correctly. After fabrication, the ejector nozzle works as a flow imitator and the motive flow is what specified. Please nore that the motive steam must be dry, because any droplet of liquid flashes in the deep vacuum inside the jet and destroy the fluid pattern.
After being constructed and working with the specified dry motive steam, the only single parameter influencing the work is actually the suction pressure. To each value of the suction pressure there is only one suction flow and one discharge pressure. The discharge pressure must be higher than the actual pressure of the recipient: if so, the discharge can take place; if not the dischargge cannot take place and the working conditions slips down until the disengagement of the ejector.
I hope that you can understand the malfunction yourself.
