Hi, soemtimes it is easy to ask a question then replying.  To my opinion we should get rid of anaerobic ponds. Indeed, they are cheap to make, but thepropblem is that the carbon in the waster is not used properly. About one third disappears as methane gas, a principle 'climate gas' into the atmosphere. And emptying anaerobic ponds is not a nice (shit) affair. What to do, depends so much onthe local situation. One option is to build setlling tanks plus digesters before the ponds (or so-called UASB reactors) .
