Biosand filter

Hi, please I need someone to shed more light on Biosand water filter, I want to work the efficiency of the biofilms found in the filter, thank you.

We have used biosand filters in groundwater remediation and one of the critical dimensions for consideration is pore size and to have the sand that is being used to be pre-washed so that fines are eliminated otherwise they are not backwashable and the fines will blind the filter.
