Digestate - Belt Press Filtrate Treatment

Question

What is the Best process to Treat Filtrate from a Belt-pressed Digestate?
Extended Aeration? MBBR? MBR? Trickling Filter?
Any direct technologies out there?

Hi Alex, if the volume is not too much, consider irrigating the filtrate onto trees or grassland.  If it is from a BNR plant, it is likely to be high in phosphates and you don't want to recycle these back into the plant if you can help it. (Phosphates will be released back into the liquid phase when the bacteria come under stress and/or anaerobic conditions).

The source of Digstate is not given. It is assumed that it is from Digester for Sewage Sludge. What is BOD of digestate. I opine that it may be less than 200 mg/l. You can use Conventional activated sludge process.

Hello Alex - yes there are technologies out there, depends on the nature of the centrate that is being produced.
