Identify a suitable site for borewell?

This is in reference to my previous question about wells. We are planning to dig a bore well now for the domestic drinking water supply. I want to know how to identify a suitable site for borewell? I mean what are the technologies associate with site identification of bore well?

1. It is possible to find high yielding bore well sites adopting suitable methodology of the Geophysical methods. Only problem is the cost and the your will that you have in getting the proper personal / institution that uses the state of art technology.

The surface resistivity sounding is very much effective in estimating aquifer thickness and basement topography which help in identifying various suitable sites for groundwater exploration.
   everywhere, Vertical Electrical Sounding is one of the very common geophysical methods used for domestic borewell exploration. However, sufficient open area around the location is needed for conducting the survey.

   In some part of world the local divine people use the magnet and wooden plank and magnet for identification of well site, but I am sure this method is not useful with critical geographical conditions.
