Selling such a product through viral marketing successfully may depend on how "hip" and "now" the product (or lack thereof) is.

Virtual water is a new way to make clear the impact of choices that we make as to purchases and consumption of food and stuff. The concept is relatively new and not easy to calculate or make visible, after all , it is virtual.
The challenge is to bring awareness and understanding in an easy to understand way to the population at large. It may be difficult to separate spin from fact in an emerging field where standards are being established and to validate claims and indentify inconsistencies.
Viral marketing that increases awareness of the principles and issues is an important step. Bottom up viral pressure for more urgency and transparency on the issue could be an important driving factor for industries to adopt measuring and reporting standards from which consumers and governments can make better informed decisions.We hope that this helps your project.
