Call for Applications
Water Management International Pte Ltd invites applications for an eight-week internship for high school and university students to be conducted remotely from 15 June to 14 August 2026, under the supervision of Dr Cecilia Tortajada.
The internship will focus on the analysis of water use by data centres in India. Interns will undertake a structured descriptive analysis of water use patterns in data centres, with emphasis on cooling technologies, operational practices, water efficiency measures, and climatic influence. A detailed framework will be provided during the first week of the internship.
Interns will be responsible for collecting and compiling secondary data from publicly available sources, including, but not limited to, legislation; sustainability and environmental reports published by data centre operators; and relevant academic literature, government reports, and industry benchmarks.
The descriptive analysis is to be completed by the end of the fourth week of the internship. Based on the findings, interns will conduct a diagnostic analysis to identify key challenges and opportunities for improving water sustainability in data centre operations in India. The final output of the internship will consist of two to three actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing water efficiency and long-term water sustainability in the data centre sector.
The internship is unpaid and will be conducted entirely online, with weekly meetings with Dr Cecilia Tortajada and her team. Interns will be required to submit a written report by the end of the seventh week, followed by a final presentation during the eighth week. A certificate of internship will be awarded upon successful completion of the programme.
There will be a maximum of three interns. Expressions of interest should be sent to
