THE WATERLINKS FORUM 2016 - BUILDING CLIMATE-RESILIENT WATER OPERATIONS IN ASIA (MANILA, PHILIPPINES) The UNESCO shares that achieving water security for megacities and the world’s growing urban areas, is a phenomenal challenge that requires major adaptation in the face of profound, future transformations and uncertainties. Across Asia, swelling conurbations and megacities are ever vulnerable to water-related risks – in particular risks amplified by climate change: large-scale flooding, pollution of water sources, water shortages etc. But Asia’s cities can also host a multitude of resources, including technical, scientific and human resources, to tackle the challenges ahead. At the WATERLINKS FORUM 2016,  WaterLinks in conjunction with UNESCO, has organized a special seminar on "Megacities, Water and Climate Change." This seminar is an integral step towards aiding the UNESCO establish regional platforms and alliances among policy- and decision-makers, operators, businesses, the academe, and civil societies that will examine the fullest range and scale of climate change impacts on megacity water, infrastructure and services, as well as to identify discrete tools, investments and costs for adaptation and response.
