The Southern African Institute for Mining and Metallurgy are launching a Tailings Storage Conference 2019. In light of the recent Tailings Failure Disaster in Brazil more focus is required in keeping these facilities safe as well as their possible impacts on the environment. The inherent water content of these facilities and potential impact onto surrounding water tables makes this relevant to water professionals as well. 16 - 17 October in Johannesburg South Africa.
