Many Rivers are turned into sewer line / Sewerage Nullah, once they enter the town / city areas. For example from Assam(India) - Bharalu in Guwahati, Kolong in Nagaon, Bega in Mangaldoi, Bhogdoi in Jorhat etc. etc. --- So it's the prime responsibilities of residents of those towns / city to take this Initiatives for revival of these Rivers. Let's get ready and united to take this challenge . ----------- Hence, presently a new Initiative is being started as --- "Revive YOUR Rivers --- Maintain YOUR Rivers". --------------- It's likely to be started in the 1st week of June, 2017, just before the forthcoming World Environment Day-2017 on 5th June. The proposed Initiatives is quite relevant while celebrating the WED-2017. Because, the Theme of the forthcoming WED-2017 is --- "Connecting Nature to People". --- This initiative is proposed as the 1st initiative of this kind for River Kolong in Nagaon District of Assam. Approximately 1 Km length of River Kolong and it's neighbourhood is proposed to be considered for this effort on a massive Cleanliness Drive. All are requested to join such effort actively with a pledge by ALL and especially the STUDENTS to take care of our Rivers / Lakes / Wetlands etc. as a part of Social Responsibilities/ Commitments. The whole initiative is named as "Green Endeavour". Activities are proposed as follows ---------- First one or two days (1st week of June, 2017) will involve extensive awareness activities in the neighborhood of Kolong. Then finally the Cleanliness Drive will be taken up to make one example in the selected portion River Kolong ( approximately 1 Km length). The involvement of the residents in the areas will also be requested. In fact, community must be involved actively in the cleanliness drive. After that all the volunteers will visit those areas time to time for monitoring. --------------------- Finally, on 5th June, 2017, one public meeting will be organized to celebrate the World Environment Day-2017 and to declare about the whole activities requesting for sustainability.
