Dear Friends and Colleagues, I wish you all a happy World Environment Day! As this year's theme is #BeatPlasticPollution, I would like to know how your actions are helping and which plastic product you are willing to completely give up to ensure our future generations live on a clean and green planet.

  1. Hola Marina.

  2. Thank you Marina for reminding us that we must act to stop our irresponsible behaviour towards the environment that is beginning to reach the limit of its resilience. In the past we thought of air pollution; but another serious pollution by plastic is added. On this day of the Earth, people dedicated to the cause of water, must mobilize to condemn the desalination of seawater through the use of fragile plastic membranes that will end up in the oceans. Especially since there are pollution-free means that can be used to desalinate water.

  3. Since all plastics are chlorinated hydrocarbon molecules they are easily biodegraded using natural microbes that are responsible for this function. I have a nice size home garden. I cut up milk jugs, straws, plastic bags, any plastic or oil based product. Mix with compost add the microbes and have an extremely productive garden all year long. Very simple basic science. Anyone can do it. I believe that makes my plastic footprint Zero.

  4. I feel that world environmental regulatory bodies must man up and nib the issue of plastic from the source. Manufacturers must be compelled to find alternatives to plastic. Only then can we really beat plastic pollution. The major plastic pollution experience in my country is plastic bottles from bottling giants like coca cola. It has become part of our life and can't be boycotted. Daily millions of plastics bottles are disposed and if only the manufacturers can change to re useable bottles that's when we can really beat plastic pollution
