We have been honoured to receive the Energy Globe World Award for the Category of Water - chosen from over 2300 applicants from 182 countries - our work with rainwater harvesting through borewell recharge won the Award.  The Gala Ceremony was held in the historical city of Yazd in Iran last week. The Energy Globe World Award is the world’s largest environmental award. Wikipedia states: " The herculean status of the Award often equates it to Nobel Prize. "  To date, we have successfully implemented over 1500 borewells in 10 states of India,  restoring the water supply for farmers from even dried up borewells.  Many of the guests at the Awards Gala Ceremony who are suffering from water shortages in their own countries sought us out to learn more of his innovative methods.  Interest was shown from Iran, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, and I have told them - “We are ready to take this technology worldwide to where-ever there is a need.”   This relatively simple, low cost and effective means to give water back to the underground water table must be implemented in as many places as possible.  The waters of our world are polluted, treated as a 'resource' and something that can just be used up.  But the supply of water is like a bank.  If we continue to withdraw without putting anything back with rainwater harvesting, the 'bank' will run out of 'money' (the water) and no withdrawals will be possible.  Our work addresses this problem in an effective way, bringing water to struggling farmers and their families and offering a solution to many of the problems besetting the small marginal farmers of India.  Water is the biggest multiplier in agriculture - with no water the rural economy collapses.  Borewell recharge can assure the future of farmers throughout India and address the food security of our nation.    If you are living in a land where there is drought and falling water table and are interested in this technology please contact us... we will be happy to share our solutions.  info@srdsindia.org
