The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) has released its Public Review Draft of the Water Desalination Grant Program Round 4 Proposal Solicitation Package (PSP). DWR will hold a minimum of three workshops to inform interested parties about the draft and to request public comments. Comments are due by 5:00 pm on May 12, 2017 . DWR will administer $93.1 million from Proposition 1. The program provides grants for construction projects, feasibility studies, environmental documentation projects, and design and research pilot projects. The overall goal of the program is to fund projects that advance desalinated water as one of many water resource management strategies in the state to meet municipal water supply needs or create or improve municipal drinking water supply resiliency and reliability. Both brackish water and seawater desalination are addressed in the program. The PSP contains program guidelines and application procedures.
