BlueHealth is a pan-European research initiative investigating the links between environment, climate and health. The programme is specifically focused on understanding how water-based environments in towns and cities can affect health and wellbeing. It brings together experts from nine institutions and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The majority of Europe’s population live in urban areas characterised by inland waterways and coastal margins. BlueHealth is researching how these environments can affect health promotion and disease, and is working with communities, private sector organisations and policymakers to ensure its findings are focused and relevant. The programme involves specialists from countries across the EU and runs from January 2016 to June 2020. https://bluehealth2020.eu/
