BINNIES WELCOMES NEW HIRE HANNAH COOGAN TO THE FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT TEAM

Hannah Coogan joins Binnies from JBA Consulting, where she was a technical director. Hannah specialises in providing flood risk management and stakeholder engagement services to flood and coastal risk management authorities.

Hannah has nearly 20 years of experience in flood and coastal erosion risk management. She started her career at the Environment Agency before joining JBA Consulting and then moving into local government to implement and manage the Lead Local Flood Authority function. Hannah was the flood risk manager at Staffordshire County Council, where she set up and managed a shared Lead Local Flood Authority offering covering Staffordshire, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Sandwell councils in the UK Midlands. Hannah then rejoined JBA Consulting, where she was a technical director based in the Midlands office and led work for local authorities on equalities, diversity and inclusion, and stakeholder engagement. Hannah is also a Fellow and a new Trustee of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.

Hannah joins Binnies at an exciting time in the organisation’s 100-year history. Binnies is the new trading name for the Black & Veatch water and environmental businesses in Europe and Asia after they joined leading integrated environmental, engineering and technical services firm RSK Group in January 2021. Binnies specialises in water utility, infrastructure, engineering and environmental projects.

Hannah has joined Binnies’ rapidly growing flood, coast and maritime team, who provide expert advice to national and local government bodies, thus helping them to promote sustainable long-term solutions that best meet the needs of the communities they are seeking to protect.

“Binnies is on an exciting journey of growth and diversification, and no more so than in the flood risk management sector. Hannah has joined the flood, coast and maritime leadership team as regional delivery director responsible for flood risk delivery and growth in the Midlands. She is not only managing our positive and long-established relationship with the Environment Agency but is also managing our growth strategy of local authority work nationally and coordinating our involvement in COP26. Drawing on her extensive engagement and strategic flood risk assessment skills, and appreciation of the democratic processes of local government, Hannah will add a new and exciting dimension to our client offering, truly embodying our mission to enhance lives, communities and the environment,” said Kevin Simpson, Director of Flood, Coast & Maritime, Binnies UK.
