erthon's collaboration with LucFlor, a gerbera grower located west of Bucharest, is entering a new chapter. For almost eight years, LucFlor has relied on Certhon for the construction and technical systems of their greenhouse. "Where we previously implemented the greenhouse, hybrid lighting (LED and Sonté), heating, and the AVS-C climate system, we are now adding a sustainable water solution," says Levente Kovacs, Sales Consultant at Certhon.
To optimize the reuse of drain water, a completely new drainage system has been designed. Irrigation water is delivered to the plants using a customized nutrient recipe. Afterwards, the water undergoes thorough disinfection through an advanced ozone system and is then stored in a separate underground reservoir, allowing it to be safely and efficiently reused. "Thanks to this circular approach, LucFlor can minimize water consumption while maintaining crop quality and safety," emphasizes Kovacs.
The choice for ozone was made in consultation with Certhon and LucFlor's Dutch cultivation advisor. The system not only disinfects but also adds extra oxygen to the water – an innovative and sustainable step forward. "LucFlor is expected to reap the benefits of this unique system in 2026," he adds.
