    We want to share a new breakthrough in water disinefection,  SILECTE® Media. This filter media represents a breakthrough in fluid disinfection technology. After 4 years of development and 2 years of field testing, our disinfection media is poised to become the new standard in tertiary wastewater disinfection, drinking water disinfection, cooling tower disinfection, stormwater disinfection, and many other types of fluid disinfection applications.  Chemical-free, power-free, maintenance-free and extremely cost effective, SILECTE® filter media works as a final disinfection solution for all fluid applications on any scale. How Does It Work? With a consistency that resembles large sand particles, SILECTE® media provides a final polishing disinfection through a unique and patented cation/electron exchange technology. During our production phase, the silica is “activated” through a spatial deposition of two different oxides and chloride layers on the silica surface. This accurate arrangement and combination produces an electronegative exchange, which gives the silica surface a densely positive charge (cations, e.g. electron holes). As microorganisms come into direct contact with the SILECTE® disinfection media, the electrons inside the pathogens are irretrievable attracted by the positively charged SILECTE® surface. This causes the entire structure of the microorganisms to collapse on a molecular scale, with the electrons transferring immediately to the SILECTE® surface. TPC measurements confirm the pathogen’s DNA is also instantly destroyed in this dense electron exchange.
