Calling all Large Lake Experts and Researchers! The International Association of Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) conference seeks participation from large lake experts from around the world from June 8-12, 2020 in Winnipeg, Canada. Deadline to submit an abstract: Jan. 24. Please contact Jess Iveswith questions by Jan 17. For more info, go to the IAGLR 2020 conference page.   BackgroundDuring the past three years, the International Association of Great Lakes Research conference organizers have been increasing the global scope of the organization, from a mostly North American focus to a broader international one. As part of this effort, some of the world’s largest freshwater lakes, found in Africa, have been included in the program, mostly from efforts taken by the African Center for Aquatic Research and Education (ACARE). IAGLR is seeking an even broader representation.  Session description:A session of invited participants presenting broad "State of the Lake" overviews for global lakes, and ending with a facilitated discussion examining shared issues. This session spawned from a workshop held in Entebbe, Uganda, in November 2019, that aimed to create a long-term collaborative process to enhance scientific inquiry on the African Great Lakes. Representatives from each African Great Lake will attend and present a "State of the Lake". Other global large lakes will also be represented. Participants will contribute to a synthetic report as part of the session. Interested participants are encouraged to get in touch with the organizers to ensure representation of a broad suite of lakes. The session is intended to strengthen the international aspect of IAGLR.For more information on the session ,contact Jess Ives; for more information on the IAGLR conference, including attendance, registration, and the entire program, go to the IAGLR 2020 conference page.
