Race for Water Odyssey two months of stopover in New Caledonia Arrival of the ship and customary reception in Lifou Thursday 31 January at 9:00   Dear all, Created in 2010 by the Swiss Marco Simeoni, the Race for Water Foundation fights against the plastic pollution of the oceans. Committed to a five-year Odyssey (2017-2021), the ambassador ship of the Foundation travels all the seas of the globe to study the impacts of plastics on the marine environment, raise awareness and propose local solutions to this global problem, especially through a machine transforming plastic waste into electrical energy: the BIOGREEN.New Caledonia and EEC Engie, main partner of this 15th stopover of the odyssey, welcome Race for Water from Thursday, January 31 to Tuesday, March 26, 2019.Detail of the program.> Stopover in Lifou, January 31st and February 1stRace for Water, our 35 meter catamaran powered by an energy mix - solar, kite and hydrogen, will be based for 48 hours at the Xenephé dock in Lifou. A customary welcome will be reserved for the crew . > Stopover in Noumea from February 2nd to February 6th We will weigh anchor on Friday 1st February at 13h for 24 hours of sailing, direction Port Moselle and Nouméa, where the famous traditional group We Ce Ca, will welcome the crew and its captain, Pascal Morizot, to welcome them. > IRD scientific expedition in Prony Bay from February 6th to February 15th, in partnership with ADEME and PROVINCE SUD. One of the programs of our Foundation - LEARN- is to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge about water pollution by plastics and, more generally, the impact of its last on the marine environment. This is why a scientific mission led by the IRD of New Caledonia and supported by the ADEME and PROVINCE SUD will be held over 8 days with the aim of analyzing the impact of metals and microplastics on the health of corals . > Stopover in Noumea from February 15th to March 26th At each stop, Race for Water continues to mobilize and inform about the consequences of plastic pollution of the oceans and the existing solutions to stop this scourge of the 21st century. To alert the decision-makers, to sensitize the general public and the younger generations are the CREDOs of the odyssey. Thus from mid-February to March 26, we will receive on board Race for Water many classes (nearly 500 children expected), but also local actors, experts in waste management (private companies, local elected officials, associations etc ...).Other events will punctuate these weeks in New Caledonia.More details to come.       Thank you to all of our local partners for their support! About the Foundation: In 2010, the Swiss entrepreneur Marco Simeoni creates the Race for Water Foundation, based in Lausanne. He devotes himself entirely to putting his entrepreneurial spirit at the service of the oceans. Passionate about the sea, he decided in 2015 to launch a first scientific and environmental expedition, the Race for Water Odyssey, to draw up an initial global assessment of the plastic pollution of our oceans. The conclusion is clear, the "islands of plastic" do not exist, collect plastic waste at sea is a utopia. In the heart of the oceans lies a "soup" of microplastics that floats in the ocean gyres. "We quickly realized that the solution is down. It is essential to prevent plastic waste from reaching the oceans, "explains Marco Simeoni. On April 9, 2017, Race for Water traveled around the world for a new five-year Odyssey to offer solutions to preserve the oceans from plastic pollution, a global environmental disaster.
