I am currently writing an extensive water treatment training manual for those entering into the field; taking certification exams; or refreshing their knowledge. I was doing some research on various online wet chemistry analyzers to determine the nitrate concentration in the drinking water. What I have found was there are three different methods of determining nitrates in drinking water, optical sensors, wet chemistry sensors, and ion-selective electrodes. I want to include some information about the wet chemistry in my manual. In regards to online wet chemistry, I am looking for some information where UV reduces the nitrate to nitrite. This is not a detection method but rather a reduction method. What I am interested in the theory of operation and any pictures of the instrument? Anyone know anything about Hach patent #2011/0212533 photochemical reduction method. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.
