My only comment on this excellent article is to avoid the term "unaccounted for Water (UFW)". This has been found to be a confusing term in use around the world with differing views of what is accounted for and what is not. Hence, the International Water Association (IWA) recommends the term Non-revenue Water (NRW) as a less ambiguous term (the difference between input and revenue volumes). Best regards Stuart

As I worked as a UFW engineer , I didn't felt any confusions while explaining to consultant,client or other 3rd party, according to IWA both are clear

UFW is wrong concept, use AFW Accounted for Water. First water accounting in India has been developed during my doctoral research and presented across the glob in many conferences. Next, scheduled on 29-5-2017 at World Water Congress XVI, Cancun, Mexico. Do join.
Water accounting facilitate you for holistic water audit and complete quantification of the water handeled in the system. It is similar to financial accounting.
