Monitoring bacterial growth in water pipelines used by Oil&Gas industries
Published on by Giovanni Pavanello, Director at ALVIM Biofilm Monitoring Technologies in Technology
Bacterial growth on surfaces in contact with water ("biofilm") causes many problems (corrosion, decrease in heat exchange, etc) to all the industries using freshwater or seawater in their process.
ALVIM has just released a new biofilm sensor with ATEX certification ("explosion proof"), that allows to monitor bacterial growth in pipelines, tanks, etc, in hazardous areas:

Total Oil&Gas demonstrated the benefits of ALVIM technology:
- Optimize biocide injection and minimize biofilm growth;
- Compare biocide treatments : chemicals, protocols, mode of injection;
- Early warning on injection failures, chemical issues;
- Adapt chemical treatment to variation of the operating conditions
