Training Workshop: Community WASH Promotion November 27-30, 2018; at Gurugram, Haryana, India India has the most number of people in the world without access to safe water and sanitation causing death of over 140,000 children less than five years of age each year due to diarrheal diseases. The situation calls for successful implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives to bring change in WASH behaviors. S M Sehgal Foundation (Sehgal Foundation), in partnership with Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) is holding a four-day workshop on Community WASH Promotion, November 27-30, 2018 at S M Sehgal Foundation, Plot No 34, Sector 44, Institutional Area, Gurugram, Haryana, India. The overall goal for this workshop is to build the capacity of participants to be able to motivate community members to practice effective WASH behaviors. The participants will be trained on the importance of WASH, its benefits, and the challenges of achieving behavior change. It will cover technical aspects of WASH; household water treatment, and safe storage (HWTS), technical details of JalKalp stainless steel biosand filter to address biological, iron, arsenic contamination, and turbidity in water, talk about various hygiene issues through the gender lens. The training will be hands-on and will outline the steps and strategies for effectively working with households and community members.
