China has become a green energy superpower. These 5 charts show how
Rows of solar panels face skywards at the Greenough River Solar project near the town of Walkaway, about 350 km (217 miles) north of Perth October 10, 2012. Australia switched on its first utility-scale solar farm on Wednesday, bringing the country a small step closer to achieving ambitious renewable energy use targets that traditional coal and gas power producers are now fighting to soften. 1. Great info.  We do environmental permitting for the solar industry in Florida and Georgia and it surprises me there is not more investment despite the clear benefits in terms of ROI and environmental benefit.

  2. But... China is so big, isn't it obvious that they have the biggest plant capacity installed? I think that it is more important to know what is the contribution of these green-energies in the country's total energy production.

In any case, thank you very much for the information

    1. You are absolutely correct - It isn't exactly fair to compare their capacity with others. Having all that current capacity, that isnt even enough to go fully Green and Clean. China and India are expected to consume more Fossil Fuel in coming years, too. I am not even though if whatever China is now doing can make any dent and mitigate the depth of the Environmental Problems. So severe, not many want to go in there, and help, unless BIG $ is in place. Very unsustainable nation.

  3. I spend 75% of my time in China, This is all news to me.

    1. Thank you for sharing your insights - I can see your point. I do not spend much time in China so I cannot say in regards to this in any way, but I find that there may be a time lag between "investment" and "change" in effect. I continue to hear somewhere China and India are set to grow in Fossil Fuel consumption but China suffers from severe, unacceptable level of Air pollution - so, in my understanding No new coal power plants are introduced (may have changed, today, require double checking) due to the pollution. This Posted Article  compares China with the rest of the world. but you know China alone got a huge area. It may not be so fair to compare with others due to scale difference. The main point here is that, "investment" does not necessarily reflect into the "actual" implementation of Renewable Energy
